Why is Assam Against Citizenship Amendment Bill

Dear friends from rest of India. Greetings from a disturbed land.

You might have been seeing some news about #Assam_protesting_against_CAB, police batoning the public, peaceful protests turning violent, Armed forces resorting into rubber bullets. This is saddening. But do you know what is more saddening to us? It is when people from rest of India are commenting on the issue with your prejudiced tone as usual. I’m sorry to say that you were never well informed about the north east. All these years you never even tried to understand the the issue of #illegal_bangladeshi_immigrants in Assam and ill it is doing to our land. We were already burdened with lakhs of illegal Bangladeshis, be it Hindu or Muslim, and that too to the limit that it has already changed the demographics of some districts of Assam. The present #bjp govt. came to power with the very agenda of getting us rid of this issue. But unfortunately what is the solution they brought? To bring another lot of them…. ? So that tomorrow the indigenous people of Assam can be minority in their own land. Really ???

Friends Assamese society is a multi structural society, it is not based on religion like your mainland India. It is a society of indigenous people, be it Hindu, be it Muslim or be it all the indigenous tribals of Assam. We are united in the basis of our language, our culture. We are united against any odds to work for the upliftment of our culture, our language. We are united in the basis of the the language that we speak. Be it Assamese, Boro, Karbi, Mishing, Dimasha Tiwa, Deori etc. we are one.

But today in the face of the #bengali influx from #bangladesh everything that we have got is about to be compromised. And we cannot simply sit and watch.

Friends our protest is not against a particular religion and for that case please don’t spread some nonsense that we are receiving foreign funds to protest against Hindus. No. We don’t see the religion of a Bangladeshi. For us a Bangladeshi is a Bangladeshi be it Hindu or Muslim. For these many years Congress brought the Muslim Bengalis, first from east bengal and then from Bangladesh. Now BJP is going to do the same and bring Hindu Bengalis from Bangladesh. Where will we go ?? What about us? Does that seem a solution to you. Moreover if CAB was such a good thing why did the govt. exclude rest of North East and tribal areas of Assam from its ambit. Is Assam a dumping ground. We want #InnerLinePermit for Assam too.

Friends, please clear your facts and stand by us. At this crucial moment we require your support to fight against the deadly decisions of this government. It’s our fight for survival. Today we are suffering, tomorrow it will be you. So act before it’s too late.

Hail my motherland #JaiAaiAsom

NRC AND ASSAM

NRC HAS ONCE AGAIN PROVED WHAT LOVE THE MAINLAND INDIANS HAVE FOR ASSAM AND THE ASSAMESE.

Today 40 lakh names could not make their way into the draft NRC and both the houses of parliament are like “No, we cannot let go our vote bank this easily. All Bangladeshis, be it Hindu or Muslim must remain in Assam. Let THE ASSAMESE be deprived of their rights in their own homeland but the right of these Bangladeshis must remain intact. They must be protected.” Some political eunuchs like the chief minister from our neighbouring state could not even control her tears and came forward and offered to give shelter to those 40 lakhs in her state. See the level of hypocrisy here. You could not control your home and you are worried about your neighbour.

The national political parties should keep one thing in mind, it was this mindset of them that gave rise to separatist ideologies. We have seen plenty of such examples in the past and it won’t be so hard to witness them again. Assam will have NRC and no one can stop us from having it.

NB:
Coming back to the “Ghar Bibhishans”(Yes I will call you by this name, you may do whatever you want. I don’t care). Everywhere , from print media to TV, it is being circulated that no one is to panic. If anyone’s name is left out from the final draft you will be given ample opportunity to edit the same. If you are really an Indian citizen, if you have migrated to India before 1973, then no one can stop you from registering your name in the NRC. I know a no. of people whose names did not appear in the final draft. They are least worried, because they know it’s only a draft and they will be given proper chance to register their names in the final list. But no… there’s one section who won’t listen. They don’t want to leave a single chance to criticize NRC because they aren’t happy with the very concept of NRC. They don’t want NRC to happen. For you my “doubtful” friends, I only have one thing to say. If you are opposing NRC, it means you oppose the ASSAM ACCORD. Opposing which means you are disrespecting the 855 martyrs who laid their lives for the sake of this land, for the sake of its people. And by doing that you have lost your very right to be called a citizen of this land. So now, it’s upto you, whether you want to stay here and be a part of this beautiful land, be a part of its wonderful culture, or move to somewhere else. Peace be upon you.
